CARE
KEEP IT FOR YEARS
A well-kept garment improves with time. This is general guidance for keeping your DORIC pieces at their best.
01 Read the label
Every piece carries a care label, and it is the final word. The advice on this page is general; wherever the label says something different, follow the label.
02 Wash with intention
- Wash less often. Airing a piece between wears keeps it fresh and spares the fabric.
- Close buttons and zips, and turn the garment inside out before washing.
- Wash with similar colours, at the temperature the label allows.
- Choose a gentle cycle and a mild detergent where the label permits machine washing.
- Avoid bleach and strong stain removers.
03 Dry with care
- Avoid the tumble dryer unless the label says it is safe.
- Dry knitwear flat, reshaping it gently while it is still damp.
- Hang shirts on a shaped hanger to dry, and smooth the collar and placket by hand.
- Keep pieces out of direct sunlight and away from direct heat while they dry.
04 Store properly
- Fold knitwear. Hanging can stretch it out of shape over time.
- Hang shirts and trousers on shaped hangers, with space between them.
- Store pieces clean, in a cool, dry and breathable place rather than in plastic.
- The box your piece arrives in is designed to be kept — use it.
05 Handle knits correctly
- Never wring or twist a knitted piece; press water out gently instead.
- Let knitwear rest for a day between wears so it can recover its shape.
- Remove any pilling carefully with a fabric comb, never by pulling.
06 When to repair
A loose button or a pulled thread is far easier to deal with early. Repair small things as soon as you notice them, and a piece will stay with you for much longer.
